The Burlingame Public Library has several events planned for March.
On Saturday, March 12 from 1-5pm at the San Mateo Public Library is the Peninsula Library System's 7th annual Young Adult Novelists' Convention (YANovCon)! Register at bit.ly/2022YANovCon. Author Candice Iloh will be joining us virtually to open this free half-day celebration with a teen-led Q&A session, followed by live, in-person panel discussions and author book signings featuring award-winning, notable, and new young adult novelists including: Candace Buford, Rachel Griffin, Shaun David Hutchinson, Lindsay Lackey, Randy Ribay, Veronica Rossi, Lisa Moore Ramee, Aida Salazar, A. J. Sass, Lily Sparks, and Shannon Takaoka. Youth in grades 6-12 are also encouraged to enter our Short Story Contest, which also opens on March 12 and runs through April 11. On Sunday, March 13 at 6pm join a Zoom discussion about Mental Health for Teens with members of the Parks and Rec Youth Advisory Council (YAC) and the Library Teen Advisory Board (TAB). The launching point for the discussion will be the movie Kindness is Contagious which you can access on Kanopy using your library card (please watch the movie before joining the discussion if you can). On Saturday, March 19 from 1-3pm teens are invited to come to the Upper Level Terrace (weather permitting) of the Main Library to look through our selection of pressed flowers, resin, and molds for pressed flower bookmarks, and/or you can practice your beading skills by adding beads to a metal hook bookmark.
