Good Morning Crocker!
The Advisors and I met yesterday to discuss things the students would want the staff to consider for next year. The consensus was it is still difficult to manage the number of tests that are given per day/week. It was also mentioned that Tuesdays are test heavy based on the fact we should not have assessments on Monday. Along with that, students discussed how much they appreciated when teachers post ahead of time assessments/assignments, along with the due dates, on their calendars/website.
It was nice to see the Advisors' interests are the same as the staff. The staff and I have been working on balancing assignments across all subject areas. It was concluded the biggest impact was at the end of a trimester. At that time of year, students would either have a couple of tests/quizzes on one day or end up having a test/quiz every day. We had no new action steps for this topic since it was acknowledged teachers are already trying to balance student workload.
A few other comments/topics that came up:
· Students like it when their homework is whatever they do not finish in class.
· Tests on minimum days are difficult.
· Students wondered about teachers at the same grade level who teach the same subject - it can seem different in content and expectation.
· HTV in the morning would be helpful (I let students know that will happen next year).
· Having homework in all subject areas would make homework more interesting.
