Kicking off the Soldier Care Package Drive Oct. 21 to Nov 20

Dear teachers and Community Service Reps!

Each year, Crocker Middle School works with the Hillsborough Police Department, to collect snack and hygiene items and assemble holiday boxes for the enlisted men and women serving in the army overseas.  Oftentimes, this is the only holiday gift these young soldiers receive for Thanksgiving and the winter holidays.

We are urged to donate generously in our 1st period homeroom classes.     A wish list is attached of the items that soldiers wish for.   We aim to make 200 16" boxes, so we need a lot of everything!   (Usually, each homeroom class decides on 1-3 items to collect, so that we can guarantee variety in the care packages.  Please feel out the form attached, and put a hard copy in Ms. Fairchild's mailbox by Friday, Oct 25th, indicating what items your class decided to amass!).    We welcome any and all donated items….including unused Halloween candy,  (any candy BUT NOT CHOCOLATE – it melts too easily!)  Our Last Day to donate is Friday, Nov. 15!  We will package the care boxes at lunchtime on Wed,  November 20th.  Thank you in advance for donating so generously and proudly to our young people deployed in Afghanistan over the holidays this year.

Ask your Community Service rep to talk about this WISH LIST of items in your 1st period class, any time this week, for our KICK OFF ON MONDAY.   Your CS Rep may want to place a large cardboard box in your classroom for student donations!

Warmly,
Audrey
