Get pumped, Crocker!! This morning, the Youth Media Awards were announced at the ALA Annual Meeting in Philadelphia. These are the major award winners for books written for children and young adults. For children's book fans, it's kind of like the Super Bowl or the Oscars but for books.

Here are the highlights.
New Kid by Jerry Craft was the 2020 Newbery Medal winner.
The Undefeated written by Kwame Alexander and Kadir Nelson was the 2020 Caldecott Medal winner. It was also an honor book for the Newbery. It is unusual for a book to be honored in both categories.
The Michael L. Printz Award for excellence in literature for young adults was awarded to Dig by A.S. King. This book is recommended for 9th grade and up.
