Trivia Team Starting Soon

Are you a smarty pants? Is your brain full of random facts? If so, the Trivia Team needs you! Most of our team graduated last year, and we are looking for new students to join the team. Come to an informational meeting on Friday October 10th at lunch in the library. Bring your lunch at the beginning of lunch and learn more about the trivia team. Compost Critters - Rethink Waste poster contest due October 3rd Friday 11:59

Middle School (6th through 8th grade)

2025 Theme: Compost Critters

Draw a poster that illustrates those who decompose! These important critters & organisms help break down food and turn it into rich soil to give back to the Earth! Examples of decomposers include bacteria, fungi, earthworms, centipedes, pill bugs, ants, beetles and flies!

Contest requirements:

Posters must be created individually. One entry per student.

Posters must use 8.5 x 11 inch white paper in landscape (horizontal) orientation. No lined paper.

No copyrighted material, computer graphics, or characters. Original artwork only. Posters must be 2D and in any medium (paint, markers, color pencils, crayons) See Ms Alich in the Art room with any questions or how to submit.https://rethinkwaste.org/schools/school-contests/poster-contest/

Overdue Day tomorrow

The first Thursday of the month is Overdue Day. Library check out is for three weeks, so 8th graders, all the books you checked out on your first class visit are now overdue. Please turn in what you are done with and get something new. Or, bring your book in to renew it for more time.

6th & 7th graders, your books will be due next week.

Please turn in your books on time, so someone else can read them, too.

Crocker Dance Expectations

Crocker Dance Expectations:

1. The dance is on Friday, October 3rd, for 7th and 8th graders. These events are for Crocker students only.

2. Students in good standing and wishing to attend a school dance can purchase tickets before the dance at recess or at the entrance to the dance.

3. The dances are scheduled from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and held in the MPR.

4. Students must attend at least three periods of a school day to participate in a school dance. If a student does not attend school on the day of the dance due to illness or leaves school early the day of the dance due to illness, the student cannot participate in the dance that evening.

5. Once students enter, they are not allowed to leave until the dance officially ends at 8:00 PM. Please arrive on time; the doors close promptly 30 minutes after the dance begins.

6. The courtyard is available for students who want a break from the dark and/or loud music. The Student Store is open for purchasing a snack or drink for yourself. Do not bring too much money in case it gets lost.

7. Phones are allowed at the dance, but using the phone and taking pictures or videos is prohibited. Phones will be confiscated if they are used. Do not bring other electronic devices to the dance.

8. There is no chaperoned area to leave purses, backpacks, or other items, so students should leave valuables at home.

9. All students must arrange to be picked up in front of the MPR upon the conclusion of the dance (8:00 PM) by a parent/guardian. Students are not allowed to walk home on their own, ride bikes, be picked up from a different location, or call a driving service, like Uber or Lyft.

Crocker Belonging Carnival Community Service Event

 Crocker Belonging Carnival Community Service Event

This is a Carnival hosted by Crocker students for the Hillsborough Community. This is our 4th year hosting this event. It is a great way for Crocker Students to show their leadership skills! This event is on October 17th from 4-6pm.

Below are the expectations for this event:

Please be prepared to host at minimum 250 guests

You will be responsible for decorating your booth and supplying anything needed for your game

Tables and chairs are available on a first come first serve basis (I am limited in quantity). Please reach out to Mrs. Slater if you need something

Make a poster for your game.  Mrs. Slater will provide the poster paper.

All participants need to be in Crocker’s MPR by 6th period on October 17th

You will receive 5 community service hours for this event

Some game examples include: bowling, fishing, arts and crafts and so much more!

Vikings, please be mindful of your printing. The color printer in the library is almost out of ink, and there is a large stack of unclaimed prints, sometimes multiple copies of the same page. Please be mindful of conserving paper and ink and double check all your printer settings before printing to avoid reprints.

Library Card Sign up Month

September is Library Card Sign Up Month. While you do not need a library card for the Crocker Library, we want to make sure all HCSD students have a PUBLIC library card. If you are new to Hillsborough or have lost your public library card and need a replacement, see Mrs. Gilchrist for an application. Turn in your form to Mrs. Gilchrist by September 30th. She will drop the applications off at the library, and your new library card will be delivered to school for you. See Mrs. Gilchrist if you have any questions.
